A Few Things Still Feel Good
Not everything is working. Not everything is easy. But some parts of being here still land exactly the way they should
Some days start with the feeling that your life is already mid-conversation.
Before you even get up, your brain is moving.
What needs handled.
What costs money.
What you forgot.
Who you need to answer.
What part of the week it is.
How much energy you actually have.
It starts early.
And I think thatās why the small good things matter as much as they do.
Because they donāt ask for a speech.
They donāt fix your life.
They donāt make you a better person.
They just hit.
The shirt that fits right without you having to adjust it all day.
Getting in your car and the song picks up at the exact part you wanted.
Cold water when youāre more thirsty than you realized.
Your food showing up hot.
Your hair falling into place for once.
A text back quicker than expected.
Taking your shoes off after being out too long.
That kind of thing.
Not huge.
Not profound.
Just real.
And honestly, some days thatās enough to change the whole feel of things.
A parking spot close to the door.
Green lights when youāre running late.
Clean sheets.
Something from the dryer still warm.
A good laugh that catches you off guard and gets bigger than it was supposed to.
The first second of getting into bed when your body finally stops performing.
Thereās a lot to be annoyed by right now.
A lot to keep up with.
A lot that feels heavier, slower, more expensive, more fragile than it should.
So no, this isnāt one of those ābe grateful for the little thingsā talks.
Thatās not what this is.
This is just me saying the day isnāt always made by the big stuff.
A lot of the time, itās made by one or two things going right at the exact moment you needed them to.
A good drink.
The right song.
Somebody being easy to be around.
Your skin looking better.
The weather getting it right for one hour.
A meal that actually satisfies you.
Finding out you still have a little time before you need to be anywhere.
That counts.
More than people admit.
Because when life starts feeling too structured, too expensive, too repetitive, these are the things that break the spell a little.
They remind you that not every part of being here is just maintenance.
Some parts still give something back.
A random moment outside that smells better than it should.
A message you were hoping for.
A joke that lands.
A room with good light in it.
Your body not hurting.
A song you forgot you loved.
Seeing yourself in the mirror and not immediately finding something to fix.
Thatās a real kind of wealth too.
Not enough to pay rent.
Not enough to solve anything major.
But enough to make a day feel more like yours.
And maybe thatās part of staying here.
Not waiting for life to become incredible.
Just staying awake enough to catch the parts that still feel good when they pass through.
Because they do pass through.
And when they do, you feel it.
A little lift.
A little return.
A little less drag in your chest.
Nothing dramatic.
Just enough to make you think, okay.
There you are.

This hits in a profound way.
Lost my mom on Friday⦠this post is packed with her wisdoms⦠thatās the way she lived. And so often⦠she would say:
āThere you are.ā
This is not a ālittle thingā post, itās evidence that gossamer threads of love connect us all.
I am grateful is spotted it in my inbox.
