Staying Open

After it should’ve closed

I’ve noticed how certain places stay open long after they’re needed.

Not because anyone believes in them.
Because they still work.

The lights are on.
The routine holds.
Nothing new is required.

It’s easy to mistake that for loyalty.
Or patience.

Most of the time, it’s just relief at not having to leave yet.
